Multiple Install Types

When you select multiple install types, also known as install types or setup types, on the Organize panel, then you can let your customers decide which groups of files and directories to install. You can create an unlimited number of install types that your customers can choose from during installation.

You must decide if you want your customers to be able to only select 1 install type or if you want to allow them to choice multiple install types. Simply click on the matching radio button for your preference.

If you want to create an installer to install completely separate components or programs that each have their own launchers and uninstaller, then you should use the multiple components installer.

First you should define your files and directories list. Then, you can create folders that contain 1 or more of the files and directories. Each install type must include at least one folder.

When you define your launchers, you can specify which launcher is associated with which install type. If you create a launcher that doesn't have an install type specified, then the launcher is created for all the install types the user selects.

Install Types

You'll want to add your folders before you create your install or setup types.

Click on the Types tab and then select the Add button to create a new installation category. Your customers will see both the name and the description you fill in on the Install Types dialog box during the installation.

The full list of folders is in the bottom window. Simply highlight a folder name and click the Select button to include the folder of files and directories in this install type. You remove a folder that's in the Selected list box by highlighting the name and clicking Remove.
